Well, I finally did it and steeled myself and did a shot without the autoject. I inject my leg every week with Testosterone, so needles are not a fear, but your dick is a different thing...
I was really surprised how much resistance there was getting through...I was expecting a bit of resistance, but I really had to push more than I expected and worried I would suddenly plunge through too deep. I'm using a half inch needle and thinking of backing off a bit because I'm a grower and just not super huge when soft so I think a lot of my previous misfires with the autoject were due to being set too deep.
Not sure if I will stick with self inject, but it was at least good knowing exactly where the needle was going.

Have you tried a 31g, 5/16" needle? I couldn't use the half inch cause i was slender flaccid. Plump it up a little if your sticking with 1/2" needle maybe that will help, but i usually could push it in up to the hub touching penis and went fine. I never achieved a solid erection cause of bad VL and the end approached fairly quickly. Lot of good guys in here with helpful info.keep it up and GL

Re: First injection without the autoject
I’ve always used 5/16 31g needles and I’m rather small when flaccid. Using the 5/16 I normally go all the way in and almost never have a misfire. Do whatever it takes to get a little blood in it before giving a shot. I also do the shot in a bathroom that has a lot of light as you can find a good spot with little or no vanes and almost never get any blood
60yo.ED started mid 40s pills failed after 10 years. Injections works w diminishing results.
Implanted 5-22 Titan 20cm with 1cm RTE.
Revision 3-26 Titan 24cm with 1cm trimmed off. Revision due to bad reservoir placement and potential tip erosion.

I, too, used an Autoject for the first year or so that I injected Trimix - that's how I was taught / introduced to this magic compound. Similarly, I am also a grower - to be honest, small when flaccid - and I'm uncut. Unlike you, however, I have a phobia about needles and, to add the final insult, I have an "essential tremor" - all of which were reasons for being able to willingly sticking a needle in my cock because with the Autoject I didn't see the needle.... and overcame my basic fear
But, using a 50u 29g 1/2" in the Autoject was not always real precise on "targeting" and that's not a good thing when you are 'veiny'
Finally, made the plunge and began manually injecting a month or so ago. I was also very surprised by the amount of 'pressure' I had to exert to break through the Tunica [work that the Autoject did]; but, am becoming more used to that aspect. I use a 1/2" EasyTouch - with the tremor, I can keep the hub consistently ~8mm (5/16") from the surface. Biggest reason for the switch to manual was accuracy - as you observed. I have had my fair share of misfires - and manual injecting is, so far, more reliable
Keep the faith
