Full body scanner, every time. Have TSA pre and Global entry so only when I get the “random” selection for additional screening.

Depends on the airport but I can say confidently I get checked FAR more often than before my surgery. Once I got TSA Pre Check its been far less though.

Hey Rider, i read your story about clavell retunelling and infection. How are you doing nowadays? did all your pains go away? are you happy with the result and do you recommend clavell?

I got hit with the “random” flag on the pre check line and shuffled to the full body scanner. Makes 3 in a row at BWI. I did the hands up salute and headed straight to the pat down area when the agent told me I was good to go. First time through without getting flagged!

Infection returned 3 days after I stopped the IV antibiotics. Had removal (explantation) a few days later. Been 10 weeks now and two more weeks to go before I get my new one. Been a Tough mental time having a limp dick… but all pain is gone incision is super clean and all healed up. Had appointment last Monday and all is good to go September 2nd. Hopefully this will be my last for many many years.
I do and would still suggest and trust Dr. I don’t hold him personally liable for any mistakes…. Think I simply drew the short straw. He’s close to doing around 2,000 implants in his history and still has an amazing track record and one of the lowest infection rates out there. Also he’s the best with taking care of patients with issues! They are just not usually his cases! lol. My original infection originated in the old removed reservoir area and migrated into the new implant. Could possibly have been some dormant infection in that area for years and it just got stirred up upon removing my old out of place reservoir. My new one was in a complete different place and never had an issue with it. Also loved the position of the tips of cylinders in the glans and loved the reservoir location. All was perfect right up to the day my infection showed up. I have no hesitation going back for this last I hope implant. If it fails again I could possibly try someone else but when your with the best it’s a step backwards to go with anybody else out there I think.

Thank you so much for sharing! so what was better about the position of the tips in this implant compared to previous ones? was this all covered by insurance?

My original was in danger of eroding out the bottom of glans. My wife was saying it felt like she was being poked with a small rod! Was getting painful for she and I! The new implant put tips dead center in glans. Couldn’t make them show on bottom or top if you rolled the glans up or down. He also said I was about 1cm undersized which could have lead to the erosion risk.
I have BCBS and a $3,500 max out of pocket per year so I met that with my first revision in February. Subsequent surgeries haven’t cost me a penny. I heard that coloplast warranties revisions and Dr don’t charge if it’s immediately after he installed it within a certain time.. I believe only thing submitted to insurance was anesthesiologist and hospital. Either way I didn’t pay a penny.
