Great question. If you are able to maintain the erection to have satisfactory sex, I think it is premature. This is a last resort and the satisfaction rate post implant depends on your level of functionality pre-implant. An implant It is NOT the same as having a natural penis that stays hard for hours.

There is NO need to rush.

a "normal" penis is always better than the implanted version. plus you can always get an implanter later...

it also depend on your age, if you are young keep the pills

Hi Macoza,

I'm in a somewhat similar situation. I can take 10mg cialis + 125mg viagra and be good to go, but it only lasts about 3-5 minutes, maybe 10 on a rare occassion. I'm honestly getting a bit scared of the amount of medication I'm taking. I can't imagine taking 200mg of viagra.

I have a consultation with Clavell on Monday and plan on asking him about this.

So the problem is two-fold, really.

1. How much medication is actually safe
2. When I do take medication, it works. But I have started to see diminishing results, very similar to a lot of men here who claim that pills stop working after a while

It's tough spot to be in and I think many men are in this spot to some degree.
46 / ED for ~16 years / Pills no longer work at all - scared of those shots! / Hoping to book with Clavell soon

5mg daily Cialis and a 100mg viagra gives me an erection when I'm by myself, but when I've taken the same amount an hour before sex with a woman I was dating, it would only partially work or not at all. So many other factors come into play. That's the real test to decide if you need an implant.

My opinion only, everyone will see this differently. Why would you postpone your surgery when the common path leads you to an implant? All that you MIGHT gain is a short reprieve before this latest strategy fails. Then you'll be back trying to bargain with the devil so to speak. Plus all the anxiety while you're waiting for the final failure.

My decision was to simply get it done. It was going to eventually need to be done so I did it. As I've said before. I do not regret my implant in the least bit. I do regret that I got ED. But as a young man with a great erection you don't think ED will happen to you. But it does.

Sorry but I feel that in less than a year you'll be back trying to convince us that you don't need an implant. Who you need to convince that you need an implant is yourself.

Most of us came to the conclusion, I should have done it many years ago. I the beginning pills did the job, I could go 2-3 times but eventually the effect loosens with time. So you move to injections which in my eyes is the beginning of the end and waste of time and money.
So in my opinion it depends what quality of erection the pills give you today, if its high and good I would wait, because screwing with your own dick is not beatable, if its poor, short and unreliable go for an implant.

You've posted elsewhere that you've been using injections for 10 years. And now you're back to experimenting with PDE5 inhibitors, still trying to make injections work and now considering implants. You seem to be all over the map. It seems very strange to me that you're having problematic results with injections but seeing results with viagra. Contrary to the post above, I'd recommend that you focus on getting the injections right, but that's just my opinion. I just don't see how Viagra will ever be reliable for you.

I often read that in the United States, and now also in Italy, Cialis and Viagra are often taken as needed. I have used pills and experimented on myself in industrial quantities. I assure you that Cialis reduces the effect of Viagra if taken together with Cialis. It is better to take a higher dose of Viagra alone without taking Cialis. Another thing is that Cialis makes no sense for someone who suffers from advanced/significant ED. Another thing is that in the United States you are stuck with Viagra, which is now an outdated drug for ED. I assure you that Levitra/Vardenafil is better than Viagra, and by a lot, but I never read that anyone in the US uses Vardenafil/Levitra.

I agree with Frank. I was on the verge of surgery last year, but I adjusted my pill dosages and (for now) I’m doing alright with pills alone.

For me, I noticed it’s absolutely important I do the following: make sure my stomach is completely empty when taking Sildenafil. No alcohol whatsoever. Wait 90 minutes before initiating sex.

The only times it didn’t work for me, I either had a drink, I was still digesting food, or I didn’t wait 90 minutes after taking it.

I didn’t try Vardenafil yet, but I recently switched to Avanafil which I find much more effective than Sildenafil. A bit expensive, but faster onset (15/30 minutes) and no need for an empty stomach. Still, no alcohol though. Hope this helps.
37yo with venous leak and arterial insufficiency since I was 18yo due to a motorcycle accident. Pills started to be unreliable even at max dosage. Tried PRP and Shockwaves with no luck. Considering getting an inflatable with Dr. Antonini soon.

I take Levitra/Vardenafil, and I am in the US. I agree, I think Vardenafil is better than Viagra - for me anyway. Less side effects and more effective. I am not sure why most doctors don’t ever bring it up. They act like the only option is either Cialis or Viagra. I will say that Vardenafil is a bit more expensive than Viagra, but for me it is worth the extra cost.
Age 59, happily married over 39 years. Take daily Cialis, supplemented with Levitra before sex. Also use a Vacurect VED with a Pos-T-Vac Mach Ring. Still trying to get TRT dialed in.
