Tenacio Recall - Small list affecting small number of patients

Postby staphylococcusecoli » Mon Dec 29, 2025 3:24 pm

Dear bionic brothers,
Can someone please share the website that lists the recalled Tenacio pumps?

How many units were recalled, and how many patients were affected?

I heard it was a small list, affecting only a small number of patients.

Is there a version 2.0 coming soon?

staphylococcusecoli, the recall affected a small number of pumps, on a very small list. Mine is on the list, but it's not affected. A version 2 is not needed for that issue. It was due to a specific assembly problem that was addressed.

It was not only a small number of patients, but since each implant has its own serial number, all of the Tenacio pumps in circulation that were recalled are gone. If you were implanted with a Tenacio pump and are worried, you probably shouldn't be as you would've already have heard from your surgeon. But, I would recommend calling your surgeon's office just to confirm.

I know this post is old. Been awhile since I was on. I also have one of the recalled Tenacio pumps. Dr Hakky called to inform me not long after my surgery when the recall was announced and has the case noted in his files and left open. With that said after my history - I opted to not get it replaced, yet. The reason is my history just to get a working one that lasts.

My pump does have a small enough issue on the refill rate, but I'm not in a hurry to replace it even though it would be free. It works, holds it's firmness, but can be finicky about the release button, but I can lightly press on the release button without engaging the hold function - something I consider a plus as it allows me to adjust the firmness much easier.

But since my surgery has been over a year ago now, I think, I'll continue with it until something happens.
